10 AM - 6 PM circa, in Milan.
Full attendance on both days is required.
Risograph is an eco-friendly printing method into which the chromatic attitude of silk printing meets the fast timing of photocopy reproduction and the softness of inkjet prints. It’s an awesome and professional — even if cheap — solution for little editions, due to its range of possibilities going from uniform tones to crazy analog patterns.
We will develop an editorial project by the end of the two days of work. The proposed paths and structures are specifically thought to reveal tricks ’n’ tips, to stress the technique, in order to understand it and handle it both during the first phases of composition and the second ones ruled by printing.
The Swiss designers Eilean Friis-Lund and Alice Vodoz will lead the workshop tutoring and helping during the development of the design, the printing planning and actions.
Graphic sources will be elaborated and warped together, starting by given material coming from a specific selection of visual material taken from the main SPRINT22 exhibition MAKING WAVES [25 NOV - 10 DEC], a journey that through a selection of books will branch out from '60/'70 counterculture experiences, to self-education manuals and alternative community experiments unfolds to the present day with examples of de localized social relationship strategies for unfragmented ecosystems.

This call is open to artists, photographers, illustrators and visual designers who love archives, who wish to have a first approach or deepen their knowledge of Risograph printing.
The workshop will be held in English and it will be helpful to bring a laptop.

La stampa Risograph è un sistema eco-friendly che unisce il risultato cromatico della serigrafia, la morbidezza dell’inkjet e la velocità della fotocopia. Questa tecnica permette di produrre piccole tirature in modo economico e professionale, variando da toni uniformi a fitti intrecci di retini dall’appeal analogico.
Durante le due giornate di lavoro svilupperemo un intero progetto editoriale. I percorsi e le strutture che seguiremo sono state specificamente pensate per stressare la tecnica nel minor tempo possibile, in modo da rivelarne i segreti più oscuri, per imparare a maneggiare con disinvoltura sia le fasi di composizione che quelle di stampa vera e propria.
Le designer svizzere Eilean Friis-Lund e Alice Vodoz condurranno il workshop, guidando e aiutando lǝ partecipanti durante le fasi di sviluppo del design, della pianificazione della stampa, e delle azioni di stampa stesse.
Le risorse grafiche di partenza, che verranno rielaborate e trasformate, saranno fornite il primo giorno del workshop a partire da una selezione specifica di materiale visivo tratto dal materiale per la mostra inaugurale di SPRINT22 - MAKING WAVES [25 NOV – 10 DIC]. Un percorso editoriale che attraverso una selezione di libri si diramerà partendo da esperienze controculturali degli anni '60/'70, a manuali di auto-formazione ed esperimenti di comunità alternative, arrivando ad oggi, con esempi di strategie di relazione sociale de-localizzati, per costruire ecosistemi non frammentati.
Si lavorerà su scansioni di materiale originale.
La selezione per il workshop è aperta ad artistǝ, fotografǝ, illustratricǝ e visual designer che amano gli archivi e che desiderano un primo approccio o un approfondimento tecnico della stampa risograph.
Il workshop si svolgerà in Inglese e sarà utile portare un laptop.
