BLADEBANNER by ALESANDRA TEMPESTI, DEREK DI FABIO, ENRICO BOCCIOLETTI, ISAMIT MORALES

Through B—B artists are invited to produce an image all-over printed in a 1x1m silk fabric, as a symbolic 'pixel' cut from their world. This series of module is a collection produced by _\|/_ and showed during the salon, fed every year by new collaborations, with the idea of building the content for a future itinerant exhibition that can present a view of the most vibrant italian art scene. The banners exist in two copies, one given to the author while the other is kept in the collection  |     29 NOV/01 DEC  1–8pm  |  Isola Libri + MiCamera + Les Mots + Spazio B**K + Folder Bookshop

SLIDE SHOWS by CHARLOTTE CHEETHAM Paris

Slide Shows, a series of self-portraits, offers one possible landscape of a newly emerging scene of independent and contemporary art publishing. Curated by Charlotte Cheetham and produced by Fillip — the initiative began in 2012 in conjunction with Fillip’s Institutions by Artists conference in the fall of 2012 in Vancouver, and took the form of a series of videos hosted on Tumblr. With the sequential rhythm of the pages of a book, the slideshows depict portraits of publishers, artists, designers, booksellers, and other leading figures of contemporary independent and art publishing. Through the familiar [nostalgic] format of consecutive captioned images, these slideshow videos are mobilized in the service of these characters, whose images and texts speak to a still developing horizon of practice, as if they anticipate the transmission of a still moving memory, thus captured for a moment. This partially decontextualized narrative space in which information is displayed in a state of silent diffusion [such as the book] can be freely visited alone, on a computer, or with others as when the videos were first presented. [A wink to the noxious zapping rhythm of information online, but here presented so that its stories may be savoured, its collected archive is unpacked.] After a pocket guide that was printed and inserted into the Fillip #18, the project will culminate in a printed volume that will document each slideshow, available in 2014. Enjoy!  |     29 NOV  4–6pm | 30 NOV  3–6pm | 01 DEC  1–3pm   |  Teatro Verdi

BOOK NOTES 1998-2012 video by CHRISTOPH SCHIFFERLI Zurich, CURATED by RIO GRANDE

I started using a digital camera in the late 90s, mostly in art exhibitions were I took pictures of the artwork together with the small tags on the side stating the name of the artist, etc. I later started using the camera also for books, taking a quick picture of the cover with some spreads and the impressum [and possibly of the price if it was a rare book]. Since the date is automatically registered when you take a digital picture, I still had to take note of the location [these were pre-GPS times]. So I started taking pictures of the gallerist, artist or bookdealer to keep a record of the place or context. Anyway - I still do this all the time. Finally these pictures also became a visual diary - but this happened more coincidentally and as a side effect, and I became aware of the diary effect much later in the process. Anyway, the small MPG-video I sent you is just a small selection of images from the ca. 5,000 book-related notes I showed at Christophe Daviet-Thery’s gallery in Paris. Christoph Schifferli   |     29 NOV/01 DEC non-stop   |  Galleria Ostrakon
